Lisa is former first-grade teacher and reading specialist. Lisa has taught in public, private, urban, and suburban schools. Also, she has a daughter with special needs. Lisa creates her books for every child and welcomes everyone to her programs.
 
Her book, The Singer and the Scientist (Kar-Ben Publishing, 2021) was a National Jewish Book Finalist. Also, it was featured in American Masters PBS special about Marian Anderson. In addition, it was selected as a Bank Street College Best Book and for the National Book Festival at the Library of Congress. Her book Shmulik Paints the Town (Kar-Ben Publishing, 2016) was a PJ Library Selection in 2016 and 2020. A Zombie Vacation (Apples & Honey Press, 2020) was also a PJ Library Selection in 2021. She also wrote Star Powers (Rourke Educational Media, 2019) a six book chapter book series about a second-grade girl who wants to be an astronaut and uses a wheelchair. Star Powers was a featured book for the company at ALA, June 2019. In January 2023, Senor Saguaro: The King of Desert was published by Little Fig about the interdependence of desert life.
